Diabetes Nurse Practitioner, Credentialed Diabetes Educator, Director @ Action Diabetes

Annabel has been working in diabetes management for over 26 years and is one of the most qualified and passionate Diabetes Professionals in the country. Her goal with diabetes is to make each person she sees, feel a little better about managing their diabetes on a day to day basis.

In 2009, she graduated from Newcastle University with a Master of Nursing and later became endorsed as a Diabetes Nurse Practitioner. Annabel is also a Credentialed Diabetes Educator and Certified Insulin Pump and CGM Trainer.
With her partner Tars, Action Allied Healthcare was formed in 2015 as an organisation focused entirely on innovative and complete management of diabetes. This includes the services of Diabetes Educators, a Nutritionist and other associated allied health disciplines. They also provide industry and patient training programs and a very successful insulin pump service. An area of special interest for Annabel is insulin stabilisation and insulin pump therapy.

Starting insulin for people with type 2 diabetes

Synopsis For many people the progression of type 2 diabetes includes commencing on insulin therapy to reduce the risk of diabetes related complications and promote health and wellbeing. The initiation of insulin therapy in the management of type 2 diabetes often starts with the general practitioner. This session will focus on the steps taken to support a person commencing insulin, from when and how to start insulin including the equipment needed.
